FAQ

Utah contracting, answered.

Why is SelectHealth contracting so important in Utah?
SelectHealth is the largest commercial payer in Utah by membership through its Intermountain Healthcare alignment. Most Utah behavioral and SUD providers need a SelectHealth contract to have a viable commercial payer mix. The network is selective and accreditation is required.
How does Utah Medicaid behavioral health work?
Utah Medicaid is split between Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) for physical health and behavioral health through Prepaid Mental Health Plans (PMHPs) in some regions plus direct fee-for-service in others. We map your service area to the right contracting pathway.
Are Utah commercial behavioral panels open?
Wasatch Front is selectively open for SUD and behavioral providers; rural Utah has more capacity. SelectHealth and Regence both require accreditation and a clean DHHS licensure record before considering applications.
Does Utah have special requirements for youth residential?
Yes — Utah has tightened oversight of youth residential treatment programs following the 2021 reforms. DHHS Office of Licensing applies enhanced standards for staffing, restraint, and reporting. We help programs meet the new requirements and document compliance for payers.
